Before you go laughing at the idea that social media can improve students’ writing abilities, hear me out. As mentioned before, small bite sized learning can be valuable–teaching students vocabulary or sharing pithy quotes with them can get them talking. Twitter can also be used when it comes to…
- Daily word games – Students provide synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, or give vocabulary definitions
- Vocabulary & grammar – Students tweet a vocabulary definition, use a vocab word in a sentence, or tweet past tense, run on sentences, as decided by the teacher
- Lesson in brevity – For older students, asking them to summarize major texts or articles in 140 characters is a resounding lesson in being concise.
