If This, Then That: Automate your Class

I’ve mentioned ‘If This, Then That’ before in a previous post, as the ‘Master of Automation’ but what if we put this master of automation to work in our classrooms?  If This, Then That (IFTTT) is a great tool that allows you to use “applets” that follow the basic logic their name suggests.  For example: If [I like a tweet], then [it saves to a Google Drive spreadsheet].  It can automate all sorts of things.  This week we’ll be looking at some great ways you can use this in your classroom.

One of my favorites, and one that I use personally is Send me an email when the President signs a bill into law, available here.  I love this!  Whatever your political leanings, it’s important to stay abreast of what’s happening up in Washington.  Once I get the email, it provides the link to the congress.gov link where I can read more about the new law.  I can see this being a great tool to use in government or a current affairs class to keep students informed, and discuss further what the law entails and even what the path is that a bill takes before it becomes a law.
