If This, Then That is an absolutely fabulous tool that can make so many things much, much easier in your life. IFTTT.com allows you to create formulas of your own, or choose from one of the thousands already in use. Here are a few examples I personally use:
- Mute my Android phone when I arrive at work
- Email me with new posts for a specific Craigslist search
- Get an email when the US President signs a new bill into law (government class, anyone?)
There are endless combinations of functions using all your social media, Android and iOS devices, Google Drive, and so much more. Here are a few more of particular interest:
- Start brewing coffee when your FitBit registers you are awake
- Real time Rain notification – Letting you know as it happens, if rain is headed your way
- Automatically mute your Android device during meetings scheduled on your Google Calendar
- Create Twitter lists based on a specific hashtag
- Tweet blog posts you publish
The list could go on and on. So many things that technology can do for us, streamlining day-to-day tasks, and keeping us in the loop of important information.
